While the final score read 28-0 in Wauzeka/Steuben/Seneca’s favor over Pecatonica Friday the real winner was the weather. That is because the game was halted in the first quarter with lightning issues and after a two hour and 15 minute weather delay the decision was made to end it.
Before the quarter ended the Hornets had returned the opening kick-off for the first score then followed with a pair of passing touchdowns and one more via the rush. P/A was limited in touches and totaled 10 yards in the game. Martin Anderson was three for seven for all 10 yards. Michael Helvogt also saw some QB action with three tries. P/A did not attempt a rush.
“We waited about two hours and saw no real end to the weather. It was called around 9:45 p.m.,” said P/A coach Mark Stateler.
P/A will have an extra day to prepare this week as they play Riverdale for Homecoming. “We have Pecatonica’s homecoming this week against Riverdale,” Stateler said. “It should be a competitive matchup.”
