It was an incredible night of volleyball between winning Six Rivers East conference leader Argyle and challenger Pecatonica. Scores Thursday were a nailbiting 29-27 Pecatonica win in the first set then three straight decisions by the Orioles. Those scores were 25-23, 25-13, 25-22.
There is a saying in sports that you either win or you learn. Thursday the Vikings learned.
“Kayla Butler is a force and we did not do a very good job going away from her,” Vikings coach Melissa Schlimgen said. “We worked on that but we didn’t do well at it on the court. We know next time we have to do a better job of it.”
Schlimgen pointed at the 70 digs her team came up with. “It shows this was a very aggressive game,” Schlimgen added. “We had a pretty good performance overall,” Schlimgen said. “We know what we have to do next time we meet up. We hope to get them next time.”
Argyle coach Jen Butler was impressed with the overall play both teams brought to the court. “It was a good night of volleyball,” Butler said. “There were some great volleys. We were glad we were able to be a part of the fundraiser for cancer awareness.”
It was Pink Night for both teams with a local family receiving the funds to help as they combat the disease.
