The Lafayette County Board of Supervisors held their regular board meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16 where only three items on the agenda made for a short meeting.
The board approved Resolution 26-25, applying for grant funds from County Conservation Aids program. This resolution allows the Land and Conservation Department to apply for grants.
The board approved Resolution 27-25, establishing an updated compensation for the Environmental Services Supervisor position at Lafayette Manor. This was not included on the 2025 and the fiscal impact will be around $2,000 in wages and fringes. It will be in the 2026 budget.
Lafayette County Chairman Jack Sauer stated this increase was to bring the employee’s wage up to be competitive and because he was being pursued by another entity. “It is tougher to find the good ones so we want to keep the ones we have,” Sauer said.
District #1 Supervisor Larry Ludlum stated that the employee does amazing work and it is right to “keep good people or we will loose them”. He strongly encouraged the board to approve the resolution.
District #12 Carmen McDonald approved the resolution with District #13 Lee Gill seconded the motion.
The board also approved Resolution 25-25, the map amendment for Renee Buisker in the town of Wayne.
The county’s new common council Jace Wade introduced himself. He and his wife are originally from Utah but came to UW-Madison for Law School and decided to stay.
